FAQ

Frequently asked questions

The most common questions about the tours. Anything else you want to know — send a booking request and I will answer within two working days.

How long does a tour last?

One full day, shaped to your pace. There is always more material than one day allows, so we select a coherent sequence of stops.

How many people can join?

Maximum three guests. The car is for you and your party alone.

Who is the driver and the guide?

I am — your personal driver and guide for the full day, so the schedule can shift with traffic, weather, or a conversation that runs longer than expected.

Where is the meeting point?

To be discussed. I can collect you at your hotel or at a station that suits your arrival. We settle this when the route is confirmed.

In which languages are the tours given?

English, German or Dutch — you choose.

What does a tour cost?

The price is on request, depending on route and group. Send the booking form with your preferred date and you will receive a proposed route and price within two working days.

Can I influence which sites we visit?

Yes. Before the day I ask what you have already seen and what you want to understand better — the stops are chosen after we talk: monumental architecture, memorials, art, graves and lesser-known places that never make a guidebook.

Is this political?

No. The approach is documentary and absolutely non-political. Every stop is read from the ground up: who built it, who was there, and what happened afterwards. Documentation and remembrance — no glorification of any regime, ever.

Do you only tour between Cologne and the Ruhr?

The first route runs from Cologne to the Ruhr, but with the right communication and enough lead time almost any area in Germany can be turned into a made-to-measure trip lasting from one to three days.

Why original 1930s photographs and books?

I bring them along to help place each site in its period — so you can compare what stands today with how it looked when it was built.
